Interview with KutMasta Kurt: 17/3/06

Ultrakeith.net: What are you up to at the moment?

Kurt:
Laying on the floor of my kitchen on the internet..
Taking a break from working on Motion Man's album.

Ultrakeith.net:
Hows your label Threshold Recordings going?

Kurt:
Honestly i don't know. I haven't released much music lately, but have some releases scheduled this year, so time will tell if threshold sinks or swims so to speak...
Oh yeah the last few albums were licensed to to other labels, they did ok considering the current state of the biz...good thing i don't depend on music to pay my bills. I grow "crops".

Ultrakeith.net:
Any new artists coming out besides Substance Abuse?

Kurt:
Tom C3 (of Dopestyle 1231) has his album with Kool Keith called Project Polaroid.
Create to Devastate (from sweden) did a good single with Masta Ace and Stricklin called Hitman, not sure if they have anything else ready to go yet.

Ultrakeith.net:
Are you recording anything at the moment?

Kurt:
Im Making my own personal porno movies...no not with animals! with my girl.

Ultrakeith.net:
Is there any releases/ singles or remixes coming?

Kurt:
Motions next maxi-single has 3 songs

1. pablito's way.
2. one time for your mind feat gift of gab (blackalicious).
3. blah blah feat qbert.

Maybe something from me and planet asia later in the year.

Ultrakeith.net:
What was your first record you bought?

Kurt:
Saturday night fever soundtrack (it was a new release then),
I thought jon travolta was cool, before he became "cool".

Ultrakeith.net:
How did you get in to djing/producing?

Kurt:
I used to try breaking, but kept hurting myself.
i've always been around and influenced by music.
My dad is a musician. I played many instruments (not well) then when i discovered Dj'in, I found what i had been looking for.
Then i started wondering how the records i liked were made and later go into production.

Ultrakeith.net:
Ever tried rappen?

Kurt:
Yes, but you'll never hear it! you can hear me sing on the darkness hip-hop tribute album if lewis recordings ever puts the damn thing out,
I did a track for it years ago.

Ultrakeith.net:
Is big willie smith ever getting reprinted?

Kurt:
Nope! there's one copy on the site threshrecs.com for $300 under the collector's corner section.

Ultrakeith.net:
What music are you listening to now?

Kurt:
The Edan album, Danger Doom, new Blackalicious album .

Ultrakeith.net:
What sort of music do you listen to?

Kurt:
The most interesting stuff i can find...blue grass, gamelon, and my favorite is ranchero.
The worse it is the better. For instance have you heard of ying yang twins?

Ultrakeith.net:
I loved the track urban ledgends on masters of illusion, its sounded like land of the giants, whats was that?

Kurt:
Sorry but if i tell you i'l have to kill you.

Ultrakeith.net:
